With Fall 2012 being an important election season, we are surrounded by news of politics and campaigning. As we get into September and October, the topics of politics, presidential candidates and debates will be unavoidable.
It’s Just Lunch recently took a poll on this awkward topic to daters all over the country to see how they felt about discussing politics on a first date. Our results include:
-Women (21.4%) and men (19.6%) agreed that bringing up politics is perfectly fine on a first date and that it was a good way to connect on an intellectual level and 36% of singles agreed that the subject was
risky but could make for interesting conversation. Only 15% of singles surveyed said that talking about politics on a first date was absolutely taboo.
Our take? Keep the first date conversation light and try to avoid a political debate…save that topic for date #3 or #4 and focus on the person sitting across the table from you and not their political point of view.
Stay tuned for more dating statistics on politics in the upcoming weeks and join in on our research, take the latest survey here!
